I was bad about going for years. Now that I get free dental care from the VA It is great. The people at our VA in Omaha NE are great. The only bad thing is the parking. That sucks. The heart surgeon wouldn&#39;t even do the surgery until my cousin had seven teeth pulled. Much of this could&#39;ve been avoided by just having dental cleanings 2-3 times per year and getting cavities filled as needed. And as if that weren&#39;t enough, because this occurred during the COVID-19 outbreak, he contracted COVID-19 while he was hospitalized (fortunately, the mild version). Can&#39;t afford it? Most dental offices can put you in touch with dental loans. If you live near a dental school, you may be able to get free or low-cost dental care by volunteering as a patient. Don&#39;t be &quot;penny wise and pound foolish.&quot; Response by Maj Gail Lofdahl made Sep 3 at 2021 4:10 PM 2021-09-03T16:10:58-04:00 2021-09-03T16:10:58-04:00 CSM Steve Slocum 7242696 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Absolutely, normally the dentist checks your gum s as well for possible cancerous sores etc. Its also important to identify potential problems early such as a cavity forming and are your gums healthy!!! Response by CSM Steve Slocum made Sep 3 at 2021 6:55 PM 2021-09-03T18:55:09-04:00 2021-09-03T18:55:09-04:00 Capt Wayne Burden 7244249 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It’s all about prevention… why wait until a tooth starts hurting?? Could be a simple cavity… could be a crater… could be much more serious (like a periodontal abscess). Point is, dental health is far more important than what some people think. BTW, you can’t be fit for world wide deployment with serious dental issues. Could potentially open a can of worms for you if you neglected your dental appointments and can’t deploy with your unit. Bottom line, physically floss (a water pick won’t cut it) and brush daily… take care of your teeth. They were meant to last a lifetime.
