iIs there ever a point where you would quit watching the NFL?

With all the negativity right now in the NFL, is there ever a point where you would quit watching?

If you answered yes, then I would ask you what that point actually was.

If you answered no, then, in my eyes, you're telling the NFL not to worry about cleaning up their act.

I know there are rotten tomatoes in any organization, but when players can be convicted of domestic abuse and still playing this weekend (Greg Hardy), without his team or the commissioner doing anything about it because he isn't a name everyone knows, it makes me sick.

No...it's entertainment and MOST of the players are not bad people (or hide it well).

CPT Private RallyPoint Member, in your analysis, people shouldn't join/support the military because they're all a bunch of drunken rapists. (ASAP and SHARP are highlighted programs)

The whole organization cannot completely control its members...there has to be some personal responsibility. Make a stupid decision and you're no longer welcomed on the Team (or in the organization).

What? I can't watch the NFL and still be concerned that individuals are rotten apples? REALLY? Next thing you're gonna tell me is the officer corps can't figure out whether 2nd Lt's should or should not salute a 1st Lt......

Its about football and I am a fan. It makes me sick to see individuals who have achieved their lifelong dream of doing what they love to do, sqaunder it away. Aside from the Ray Mcdonald issue, who I think the my niner should have deactivated him as soon as it happen and the Adrian Peterson issue, I think the NFL is now taking a consciout effort in cleaning up the league. Once they hash out the drug policy, I think we'll a change in players. Will it be significant, I don't know but it will be a change in the right direction

Domestic abuse is a cowardly act whether in the NFL or not. As to the NFL cleaning up its act I wish I could say it was truly about the crime and not about the dollar. However much of the NFL/teams actions I feel are based on protecting the image of the team or league not protecting victims of the crimes perpetrated. When it comes to boycotting the NFL there are many more stand-up guys than thugs so I find it hard to hurt all for the actions of the few. I've been smoked out before beating my face while the guilty party stands there - thus inspiring some wall to wall counseling. Imagine every player in the NFL getting fined 100k for Ray Rice's actions. Is that fair? These are grown men and these individuals need to held accountable for their actions. Ok sure ban theses guys for life. But will that stop Ray Rice from beating his wife? That guy needs some serious help.

I haven't watched in well over 15 years. It was a ritual for my Son and I to spend every Sunday and Monday night in front of the TV. One Friday and Saturday night, we watched Bull Riding. Guys climbing on 1 ton+ bulls and riding with broken bones, torn ligaments and busted faces. That Sunday we settled in to watch Minn. Vikings play and there on the sideline was the over rated POS Randy Moss, jaw jacking and joking in street clothes! Millions of dollars a year! Poor little guy had Turf Toe! I gathered my beer, chips and dip and never watched another primadona game again! I stick with PBR and WVU football only. So, all this crap going on in the NFL is useless fluff to me.

I haven't watched the NFL in several years now. It's just so boring to me now. A bunch of grown men who are paid millions for 15 second bursts of energy. I'd much rather watch college ball where there's a lot more passion in the game. Yes, most of it is geared towards making one's self look good to reach the NFL, but most of those guys know that it's the last change they'll ever get to lace up and play. I'd rather spend my time with my wife and son outside enjoying the weather, with a good book, or with a beer in my hand and my smoker full of ribs, brisket, and bacon!

Sir, great question. To answer, yes, there was a point where I quit watching. I don't follow any professional sports any more, at all. I used to follow football specifically the KC Chiefs. I had season tickets to the Chiefs for 7 years but gave them up a few years ago. I had started to get disillusioned with the NFL and professional sports in general not only with all the garbage going on but some underlying proclivities many people are unaware of, which I'm not willing to state in a public forum. Everything considered, I respect a person's desire to follow/watch any professional sport but I will not support the sports themselves.

If I stopped doing things because somebody did something stupid or criminal, I'd be living in a cave. In any walk of life you have idiots that don't care about anyone but themselves. I'm not going to punish the whole for the sins of the few. Most of the professional athletes are upstanding people doing what they love. Should we condemn everyone in the Armed Services because a couple knuckleheads deserted and turned up on the other side? You Decide!

Ok, I buried 3 of my best Friends in Two Weeks. I am Done Forever with the NFL! I don't give a Damn What their Commissioner "tells them" THEY DON'T HAVE THE HEART TO BE RESPECTED BY ANY VETERAN! I will continue to BOYCOTT the NFL until they put ME in the Ground and if it were possible even AFTER THAT!

To answer your first question, yes, there is a point and I reached it long ago. It had less to do with the NFL and more to do with me: I had better uses of my time than sitting watching a bunch of guys I have nothing in common with play football.
As to the NFL "cleaning up their act", CPT Private RallyPoint Member: Do you realize that you're fundamentally implying convicts who have served their sentence (or perhaps are still serving terms of parole or probation) should not be allowed to work?

I've never been into sports, as a kid I grew up in a family owned and operated business so there wasn't much time. As an adult if I have nothing else to do I don't mind watch a football game now and then. With all of the controversy in the NFL today it has given me any incentive to watch.
