Depends on type of unit. In most units the Real Live Officers (RLOs) look to the Warrants for advice and guidance.

It entirely depends on the unit. In an aviation unit, no one really cares about the distinction between officer and warrant officer in general. Even enlisted. Not one cares if they are a professional and take their jobs seriously.

For ground units, WOs are gods. And dickheads. They are better than you. You will bow to them.

Warrant officers are advisors and a smart officer will lean on them for direction in their respective area of expertise.

Kind of like a marriage. The warrant officers let the RLOs think they are the ones in charge and making decisions.
