In a time of so much hate and division, how do you honor your country, personally, every day? What does that mean to you?

We pray daily, we say the pledge at meetings, we support celebrations honoring individuals and groups, and we are active every day dedicating ourselves to effectively help others in the best way possible: support groups, team centers, mentoring and networking. These are the positive ways I honor my Country. Lead by example to ensure the future for our families. What does that mean to you?

I am desperately searching for root causes of that hate and division. I think that much of what we are focusing on are symptoms of deeper problems. Inasmuch as I'm retired and have time to burn, I can dedicate a lot to this endeavor. My motivation is that I don't want to leave the world a lesser place than I found it. Sadly, that's what it is at the moment. So, I'm dedicating my research and writing skills to that search in hopes that I can shine a brilliant light into those dark corners and force the agents of the divisiveness to scatter like cockroaches.

I disagree, out county is not full of hate and division. It's the media that portrays limited conflicts in a small area. The little screen makes everything seem big.

What's there to honor... most people want to fight me... and when I smite them they act like victims... I just want the same things everyone else... and they moan and complain about it, when they try to fight me I smash them and they act like they are some victim of what?

I fly my old flag and thank God every day. As my son gets older I will teach him the pledge of Allegiance and how people believed in a government that could be governed for the people and by the people free from tyranny could exist.

I don't know how it really honors my country, but I like to begin the day usually with a rendition of the anthem while I get ready. It's really just for me, but it does make me stand a little taller during the day.

All of those things are good to do (prayer, support groups, teams centers, mentoring etc) and will help you work through particular issues that may be internal to you or family and friends. I would suggest though, that there are external issues that you need to prepare for as well.

There are growing numbers of people on the left that grow more violent and empowered by their handlers in the media and the left. You need to mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for the possible violence coming to your home town/city etc. I would suggest practical skill development in self defense, conceal carry permits (if available) etc.

I fly the flag every day but I also work 70-80 hours a week and travel non stop so there is not a lot of time for all of the pleasantries of day to day living.

I continue serving my country by serving on our Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post's
Honor Guard and have gotten calls from a few other units to help fill gaps on their Squads. I also serve as Chairman for our District Drug Awareness and Safety program (oversee the Post's that do their programs and that they turn in their reports of what they've done and assist where needed .. I served Previously as the District NAT'L Military Svc Cmn over seeing the Posts as they did their NAT'L Military Svc Program. Those that are curious can go http://www.vfw.org and then find National Military Service program and what goes on. Same for my current program Drug Awareness and Safety..
