There are good folks out there that have respect for the military today. In normal years I would attend a Veterans Day ceremony and will do so next year. I do miss not going to Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies this year. RallyPoint is a great place to keep in touch with our fellow Brothers and Sisters. But most of all to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. To all my fellow Veterans I say thank you and for those who gave it all, rest in peace my brothers and sisters, you have not gone unnoticed.

CPL Christopher Thomas - "We have a generation that doesn't have any respect or care for the Armed Forces. I'm curious to know what my Brothers and Sisters think about it?"

To a certain extent there is truth to this statement however, fortunately not all young think like this. On Veteran's Day we were in session at the high school I teach at. We couldn't have our usual assembly in the gymnasium like years past but over the intercom during morning announcement the principal announced the names of all the teachers who served in the military and the branch they served in (which amounted to about ten names out of a faculty of almost two hundred).

MANY students stopped by my room (should say hallway where I was watching student movement during class changes) to thank me for my military service. Some were former students, others, I had no idea of who they were. The rest were my students who thanked me during class. Almost all the JROTC students came by to see me. I would say about two hundred students came by to see me. Okay, the student population of the school is about two thousand-three hundred students. 8.695% of the population, I think that is pretty good!

I think there may be some change to the attitude of the younger generation. We can hope anyways! Response by Cpl Vic Burk made Nov 12 at 2020 8:05 PM 2020-11-12T20:05:18-05:00 2020-11-12T20:05:18-05:00 2020-11-11T09:22:28-05:00
