A lot of people forget a major shift in an MTOE Army wide say a Section Sgt for a given type of Unit, from E-5 to E-6 creates an increase demand for E-6&#39;s abut a decrease in the amount of E-5&#39;s. After reviewing HRC&#39;s past centralized promotion board MOIs the average secondary zone of consideration for SFC is two years TIG. Even though I have over a year before my first look I want to ensure I&#39;m fully ready. I&#39;ve reviewed my records and corrected any deficiencies/missing documents. However, AR 600-8-19 is fairly vague when it comes to sequence numbers. <br />If I understand everything correctly you get three looks for SFC which means my final look will be in FY21. My current E6 RCP is Oct &#39;23. In a worst case scenario I don&#39;t get selected until my final look. This only gives me approximately 18 months for my sequence# to pop before I hit my RCP. If this worst case occurs while I be able to be retained until my sequence# hits or will I be forced out at my current RCP?
