As you may have noticed, I hold our leaders to high standards. I hope to see morale shift for the better as I feel he will ensure we know we are appreciated. I'd like to see a more robust, better-allocated budget, one that allows for better training, a highly ready fleet of vehicles. Full equality of the genders is a must if women in combat roles is to be taken seriously by their peers.

Changes will come from within this time, instead of influenced from the outside. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs will provide the recommendations, versus implement endless external policy from the Sec Def. I can't see Trump selecting or positioning yes generals to push his personal views. However, his ideas on force improvement will keep a lot of bean counters without sleep the first year. Wasting money will become difficult. How's that for some wild speculation?

He didn't have my vote, but like all presidents to come, I don't wish failure on them. From a military perspective, he should improve or at least maintain operational readiness without the needing to cut the budget, or troops.

1.) I expect a more robust readiness state. No more robbing from Peter to pay Paul. I hope we get more manpower to fill the gaps. We don't need to be at the levels we were during the Reagan era but we sure could use the help and get out of the asking for permission to buy paper mode.
2.) I would expect a pay raise for our men and women in uniform. It is long overdue. it pains me greatly to see and hear about our service families being on welfare and subsistence. Just ain't right.
3.) I expect to see morale rise as we will feel appreciated more for what we do. We will always follow the orders of the President but it makes it nicer when you feel like he understands and appreciate the sacrifices that are made when he is making his decisions to send Americas finest into harms way.
4.) I expect to see reforms in the VA. I hope he puts the right person in charge and they clean house. Our veterans have earned that right.
I don't expect to see most of this in his first year as it will take several to right the ship and gain Americas trust but I do expect we will see this in a year or two.

Based on the sentiment General Flynn has for DCGS-A and his proximity to Peter Thiel, maybe plans to address that. As for General Mattis, he'll likely put an emphasis on preparedness, training the force, and overall combat effectiveness.

The main thing I think, and hope, change is the mind set of 'leaders' across the political spectrum. A change from the military being a petri dish for social engineering and a return to the military being the sword and shield of our Nation's defense.

One of the biggest changes we will see is at the Military Industrial Complex. Gone will be the expensive toilets, sparkless hammers, etc. Milspec standards may get relaxed a little. Cost of procurement is going to come down. We've already seen evidence of this with Trump's comments about Air Force One and the F-35...

And now the bad news. I don't think you will see big pay raises like we saw with Reagan and GW Bush. The military will likely see benefits erode as Trump slashes to balance the budget.

On the bright side, there will be an increase in personnel and possibly a flattening of the pyramid so that we have fewer officers and more enlisted. And that actually is needed because the military is too top heavy...

I have a feeling that instead of downsizing were gong to see an increase in the military branches. Not saying we will be facing a potential war soon but more that PE Trump doesn't appear to be one for lessening the protective forces.

I do hope you mean his term as President, not just one year. And some things will change with his first year but it going to be a long drawn out process to get the readiness back. Your probably going to have to beat the PC out of some people because the military is not a place for social experiments. Obama has 8 long years to work on some of the higher ups. So that may be what they know.
