In your own words, how would you describe Patriotism?

Having deep nationalist fervor; willing to place the needs of the many above the needs of the few; supporting, defending & abiding governing laws without prejudice; voting to make heard voices which dispute the governing laws; defending others rights regardless of affiliation, views or affectation; & rising up to defend these rights when violated by aggressors both foreign and domestic
