Influence Points. Now that we have them, what do we do with them?

What would you like to happen with all of these influence points that we have? Some members talk about RallyPoint creating extra badges. But what if we could "buy" badges that showed our support of certain causes? My wife is a breast cancer survivor, so I would like my profile to show a pink ribbon next to my name. PTS awareness, suicide awareness, homeless veterans, 2nd amendment, autism, the list is endless. Anyone else have some good ideas?

I like the idea, but it would need limits. Autism and Cancer come to mind as parallels to Breast Cancer and Epilepsy. I imagine there are numerous cause ribbons, but they would have to be serious. The cost should mostly go to the national charity minus tiny administration costs. Kudos to your wife's strength and courage.

Anyone want to throw the idea around? Maybe 10,000,000 influence points get you a free aircraft out of the boneyard at Davis-Monthan AFB? I saw another line of OH-58D's in there today....lol.

The whole influence point thing is almost too much. I'm competitive by nature, I hate to see my points go down... it's stressful to think about the points... I come here for the connection to great people and great topics...
I understand it is a driving force to keep people on and make them come back... I try to not think of them for the most part.

Influence points automatically rollover into RallyPoint stock, deposited directly into your bank account.

Just think of the increase in membership, along with all the merging the admins would have to do!

Perhaps unlocking "minor" features.

1) Alternative profile picture (mine is in Civilian attire, so having an outdated Military photo? or vice versa)

2) Ribbons make sense

I am currently a pancreatic cancer patient at Vanderbilt Hopital in Nashville. I think a cancer ribbon would be a good thing.

like spend 1,000 influence and rallypoint will donate x amount to your favorite charity.. or something of that nature.

spend points and railly point will for x number of days advertise favorite charity.

The points system is flawed. People tag dozens and then make a post like "Interesting", or shotgun 30 bible verses, or pictures of their objects around the house, then poof they have 9 million points. Not all, because some provide meaningful and helpful posts, as well as being active in the community. Others tag nobody and rarely post. One could conceptually take the time and tag all 657500 members and get there with one or two posts. So, the concept of trading them is flawed from the start. I admire your passion though, but it would not work given the current schema. There are so many ways to game the system.

In my local grocery store, I can turn in One Billion Influence points and get 1/10th of 1% off of no name generic whole wheat bread on Wednesdays between 1700 and 1701, if the total of my purchase over $1000 dollars after taxes totals with nothing to the right of the decimal point; if there is no moon that night, If I purchase at least 72 loaves of bread.
