IPFU for Overweight Soldiers?

Ok so yesterday I was the clothing sales store and saw the new PFU's, well what was left of them because it looked like a Wamart shelf after a winter storm warning.
Anyhow I decided to check out the quality but was stumped when I came across a pair of PT trousers in size XXXL.
Now mind you I'm a big ol corn fed boy but wow! Those things were HUGE and all I could think was "Is there a soldier walking around big enough to actually need these?" Just seeing this size uniform bothered me, but what bothered me most was that this was the last pair on the shelf. Really? There is more than one humungo in uniform? Sad, just really sad. I think it's time for this ol man to hang his boots.

They just started selling those here @ DLI last week or so, I am curious to see how they fit me compared to the current PT uniform

Body type. Just because you wear large(er) sizes doesn't mean you're a fatass. I swear the body types they use to size uniforms are skinny stick-like guys. I am a short, stocky person. My body proportions (particularly my backside and legs) do not fit comforatbly into a uniform that corresponds with what my waist size would dictate, so I buy a size up.

Looking at https://www.shopmyexchange.com/ it looks like trousers and shorts are uni-sex. I guess that would explain all the XXX's on sized. With separate sizes for men and women there would be fewer XXX's needed. With uni-sex you have to accommodate sizes from very small females to very large males.

When it comes to PFUs, you have to account for all sizes and body types. There aren't many Soldiers that are 3XL (that's why that size was still available at MCCS), but they are out there and need to be serviced.

I would counter that - and I've felt this way for a while - that the ACU and ASU should come to a halt at a certain size. If you need sizes that big, you don't meet the standard except in all but the most exotic situations.
The reason we have HT/WT standards is so the "Soldier presents a Soldierly appearance". Anyone so large that they can't get into a standard size should stay in PTs all the time. That should be their primary activity for the day anyway.

Our generation is bigger then the WW2 era standards which I swear don't help those who are bigger. Yes there are some fat service members who are lazy, but in the same breath there are those who wear XXXL and still out do their body standard met counter parts.

I know with the old pt uniforms I had to get a size larger to gain some length, otherwise it looked like I was "ranger panties". Don't know how the new ones fit. What really concerns me is seeing ACU's in sizes like XXXL/ XS (extra short). There is most definitely something wrong with that picture.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member I'm a "big" guy, 6'0" +230lbs, the XL PT shirts I was issued in BCT are my wife's sleeping shirts. They don't just look bad but they are uncomfortable for working out too. I can't imagine a Soldier using 3 times that size. However, I've seen several spouses using the PT shirt, maybe they were bought for gifts...
