Is 17C AIT classes backlogged?

After the long and arduous re-enlistment process as a prior service applicant, I am slotted to go pick a job at MEPS soon.

I have heard the AIT for the MOS I want, 17C Cyber Ops Specialist, is backed up bad, does anyone have experience or knowledge of this? I know the career counselor has the answer but I wanted to weigh my options between 17C, my old MOS, or another MOS and try to figure out a game plan for what is best.

Also is there a wait time if I don’t reclass to wait after enlistment before I can reclass to 17C?

Yes I tried getting that MOS as prior service as well. They told me the seats are full. I was convinced to just enlist in another MOS and then reclass when I re-enlist again.

The seats are often backlogged because of the demand, especially in the last few years. Even with courses that start regularly, the first phase of the training is a joint course (JCAC), so all branches are always trying to get the seats. If you're going in as a Reservist, many times we can put in a waiver for phase 1 training which is what is backlogged the most. If your intent is to go through the entire training pipeline, you'll likely need to wait many months before seats open, especially among the pandemic. Can't quite do any SCIFish required training via online training. SFC Hurst recommended looking at 35Q which, coincidentally enough, also uses the same first phase training which is another reason for the backlog.

People generally wait a month to two before classing up. They are doing a bunch of double starts lately and I believe they started putting people through classes
