Unless it&#39;s an older generation thing, I think it more applies to those who retire from military service or those who are medically retired from military service. I believe it is a DD256, and has a service identifier for branches. The service branch issues it. Reenlistments had on one side the reenlistment cert and in the other a DD256 for that period.
