Is a discharge certificate still a thing?

I've seen some people talk about honorable discharge certificates on here and was wondering if those are still a thing or not. I've been out six years and never got one so I'm guessing its an older thing but not sure.

Last one I got was when I re-uped for Indef in the 90's and then my retirement certificate.

It is still a thing. go to Evetrecs and request one. You need to specify in the comments DD256A

I've been out 3 years now and I didn't see one other than my DD-214. Unless it's an older generation thing, I think it more applies to those who retire from military service or those who are medically retired from military service.

Some of the Soldiers who ETS'd around the same time I did received one at the end of their IRR time, but I never did. That was about five, six years ago.

I did get one when I got out 31 January. Its pretty fancy actually. Isn't everyone supposed to get one or am I missing something?

Still a thing. I believe it is a DD256, and has a service identifier for branches. The service branch issues it. Reenlistments had on one side the reenlistment cert and in the other a DD256 for that period. You should have gotten it with the 214
