Their promotion rates are some of the toughest in the Army. With only NCOs of the Combat arms, Armor, Infantry, CBT Engineer, Artillery were to &#39;Lead&#39; troops in combat.. Over the years Spc 2/3,6,7,8,9 were done away with in the RVN war &amp; soon after the Spc grade was whittled down to 4,5 &amp; 6. not much more than being paid/ promoted for having been in a war zone.
