Is a USAR Soldier in the MED board process - Are they required to attend all drills, or is it optional?

Man,t I'd say you have to follow your orders to the extent possible. Those in your chain of command know what's happening. In the meantime, your profiles will exempt you from certain duties. but not from showing up if possible. Once the Med Board process ends, things will change.

SFC Jake Middaugh My unit I work for as a civilian works with our MED board soldiers. They still attend drill until their orders are cut, but they also know they are MED boarding so they don't push it that much if they do miss drill. Just depends on the situation. I wish I had a more concrete answer for you, I can only go off what what they do for the 396th CSH.

I am trying to dig up specifics in literature about attending BTA while going thru the MEDBOARD, but so far nothing. I can say from experience that I once had a Soldier going thru a MEB/PEB and was still participating IDT. I'll keep digging and if I find anything specific, I'll let you know

Required,
Only a Commander can excuse a Soldier from drill, or authorize a SUTA/RST/ET.
AR 135-91.

The only time drill is "optional" is the first 90 days back from deployment.

I have extended twice now. Medboard takes forever. Go to drill ask about progress , do the best you can and leave, when the time comes with your head up.
Or don't show up and be remembered as that guy.
Enjoy your time with your unit, soon you will miss it

Being on a medboard doesn't excuse you from being in the Military. The CO has discretion but thats about it.

When I was in PEB/MEB status, I had to attend. So I am going to say see you Saturday Morning.
