Then we had the almost useless gas masks meant for tear gas and admittedly the gear was regarded as substandard. But even with the right gear one needs training, practice and more training. Not just an atropine injector and a charcoal jacket. I know things are better now but knowing what I knew then, we are not ready for that. No. We in the Army may dawn our gas masks, but that's as far as it goes. I might be wrong, but one could probably argue, that if you're not in a CBRN Bn or basic training, the most training you get when it comes to NBC training is learning how to put your mask on and wearing it during PT on select days. Now if that goes for units within the Army, judging how susceptible the public gets and if this biological attack was on a wider scale, I think we'd get hit hard and I only say that because if I was only going off how Dallas handled the virus, I can't say and I'm not certain if Seattle, Los Angeles, Miami, or Denver would react the same way. We as a country are not ready everyone would be waiting on our political leadership on what to do and then we would have to debate that before taking any forms of defense. God Bless us all if it really ever happens. Just look at the most recent scare with Covid 19. Science should never be politicized and the Government officials should have and hold the trust of the American society as a whole.
