Is any licensed psychologist, LCSWk, psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner available for a clinical internship?

I am a student at the University of Colorado psychiatric nurse practitioner program, and desperately need an internship for the fall semester. We have to find our own placement and I am having a difficult time. I have a family nurse practitioner for 17 years, and this is a post-masters certificate. I need 135 hours, which is about 2 8 hour days a week, September through November. Children, adolescents, adults...I live near Boulder, CO.

Have you looked at Denver? It is a large city not far from Boulder. Maybe they have some openings there. I have a friend who lived in Boulder, but she worked in Denver. Good luck!

There is a lack of community in my profession, unfortunately. Nurse practitioners are too busy or don't feel confident to teach, in my opinion. We are the only healthcare profession that has to find our own preceptors. Doctors don't have to do it, PAs don't have to do it, even RNs are placed in clinical rotations. I will just keep trudging along, and keep putting the word out there. I stumbled on this site accidentally. Thank you for your attention.

If you don't mind my asking, are these normally paid or unpaid internships? I'm familiar with health administration internships (which are normally paid), but not with patient care-focused internships. Have you tried the VA to see if they can facilitate something? The availability of funding (for a paid internship) could present an obstacle.

I know this is a bit of a older topic, and thus a short in the dark, but is there an Army PMHNP and/or an Army psych nurse that would be willing to talk to me about the number of slots, promotion potential and shadowing opportunities?
