Is anyone familiar with Army prior service bonus?

I’m about to ETS out of the NG and hopefully going active. I know prior service depends on the business rules, but when I asked the recruiter about a bonus he said I would find out in meps. The NG is currently offering 20k bonus to re enlist so I’m hoping active duty is offering something.

If it were, you are ETSing from the guard, you would not be considered prior service active duty, you are prior service Guard. There is a distinction, but your recruiter should know.

I’ve NEVER seen a prior service accession receive a bonus. If you’re doing it for the money, the money will never be good enough on active duty.

Best advice is go to MEPS for an inspect (if your medical from the Guard is still good). You may have to take a complete Physical again. Then get to the Guidance counselor to discover your options. From my past experience, prior service were not offered bonuses, however, that was over 10 years ago...so go ahead and head to the Meps...if the Guard is offering 20K to re-up...why not??

Bonus wasn’t even an option for me when I went Reserve to active.
