We would like to get his medals engraved with his name, rank at the time of the award, the date they were awarded, and if there&#39;s room the operation in which he received them.<br /><br />I&#39;ve tried doing some research but can&#39;t find anyone thus far that has experience in engraving medals, we&#39;re considering a jeweler but any advice would be welcome.<br /><br />Attached is an unfinished design concept for the shadow box we&#39;re building.<br /><br />UPDATE<br /><br />AR 600-8-22<br />1–34.Engraving of awards, the grade, name, and organization of the awardee are engraved on the reverse of the MOH. The name only of the awardee is engraved on the reverse of every other decoration, the POW Medal and the AGCM. When possible, engraving will be accomplished prior to presentation. When this is impracticable, awardees will be informed that they may mail the decoration, including the POW Medal or AGCM to Commander, U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Clothing and Heraldry Product Support Integration Directorate, Post Office Box 57997, Philadelphia, PA 19111–7997, for engraving at Government expense. I my ARCOM I got in Iraq and had the same thing done, it doesn&#39;t cost much and it looks nice, I was told come back in few days the guy call a few hours later but I had only one and it looks fantastic. depending how much work they have and how big of and operation it is it could take maybe a week. They will be permanently mounted to the backing. Might be unnecessary to engrave at all. I&#39;ve thought about getting my PH engraved but haven&#39;t done it yet.
