Our BN is in that boat, but until an LPD is done on how to properly roll the sleeves.

Rolling your sleeves is not rocket science... now the Army needs proper sleeves that can be rolled, to tight and looks like most soldiers wear the wrong size. Semper Fi.

Maybe because the way shown in your picture isn't the way it's authorized.

Everyone will be doing it differently.

And most Privates and frankly Captains haven't been in the Army long enough to remember how to do it the way shown in your picture.

If it can't be done right, it shouldn't be done.

And I almost forgot.

Either everyone does it right, or nobody does it.

I would flip my lid if I saw a formation with it mixed. I'd immediately make everyone roll them down.

Commanders are afraid to make any decisions that may result in a sideways look from their boss. Commanders will wait until commanders all the way up the chain make a policy and then copy that policy so their priorities are "nested" with higher. It's pretty funny that the Army already had a policy on this subject and it wouldn't be that hard to dust it off. From April until September you could wear jungle boots and roll your sleeves. Yep it was that simple.

Here at Fort Stewart, 3 ID we are waiting for the 18th Airborne Corps Commander to tell us if it's alright to roll our sleeves. It just kills me how afraid leaders are these days. If I'm not in formation why can't I have my sleeves rolled? Uniformity when I am conducting my daily business is irrelevant. Now, if 1SG says sleeves are down in formation well, I just pull them down and go to formation. It's not rocket science.

Oh, and on another note, we are conducting pay day activities on Friday and the uniform is Class B with short sleeve shirt...because it's hot. Unbelievable!

I am a Company Commander. I will be showing up with rolled sleeves at my next IDT. In the absence of higher policy/direction I am making the call that it is ok for my people until told otherwise. (in particular since this won't be an outdoor drill... I do admit to not liking the short sleeves in direct sunlight... then I (aka my NCO's) have to trust/verify the Soldier's have applied sunscreen.. sleeves down means I don't have to have that checked)

The entire Illinois National Guard has been told, "NO GO." Took less than a day for the Adjutant General to shut it down.

When you get the Commander, or any leader for that matter, that balks or talks down the new policy....pull them to the side and remind their whining ass that they are setting the example for the formation they lead! If they cant get sleeves right without bitching and complaining, they might ought to look for something less arduous to do than pick up a dang rifle and defend our way of life!

Mine is chewing the bit left, right and sideways over this. But I can understand why:
Privates.
In TRADOC land, we don't like change. We prefer to stick to familiar doctrine and behaviors. So the Command Teams are not exactly loving the idea of changing the way we wear the uniform, when we are going to then have to spend countless hours teaching, correcting, re-teaching and then correcting again, when the Privates screw up even this simple task.
