I jumped on the opportunity for a couple of reasons, but one of the main reasons is because it is on our career map. What are your thoughts fellow career counselors? Will this help an individual make the next grade or hinder them? Recruiting in my opinion is about the number as opposed to it being about the Soldier. As long as you are successful I don't think it will hinder anything quite honest, it may set you apart I think. In this fast pace Army Leaders are challenged with competitive promotions, evaluations, and assignments. If an individual's primary MOS is Retention and that job is vacated for three years then that individual must embrace catching up with the rest of the field to be relevant agsin. Most in our career field are afraid of change. I highly recommend everyone experience a few years out there doing either recruiting or drill. It will make you a better Soldier in the long run!
