I commissioned in the Texas National Guard as a 73A and was assigned a 67D slot. Now I'm being told that I won't receive my bonus unless I move into a 73A slot.

This doesn't seem accurate. It seems as if most 73As hold 67D slots, at least in my State's National Guard.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Every bonus in the Guard is tied to a specific MOS and the UIC assigned.
You could try submitting an ETP, otherwise, you aren't eligible for a bonus unless you move to a 73A position.

1LT (Join to see) - If there are no 73A slots in the state, why would the National Guard need to provide an incentive bonus to 73As to fill the non-existent positions? If you were promised a bonus previously, you should check your paperwork to see what stipulations are listed with your bonus.

CPT (Join to see) good question. I think it's they they need behavioral health officers to fill 67D slots, which can be one of several MOSs: social workers, psychologists or psychiatrists.

1LT (Join to see) Yeah, the rationale makes sense, but they have a MUCH wider pool to draw from for 67D, so it's possible there are no incentives linked to that AOC (which are set at the NG level) Check your bonus contract for the stipulations. The only bonus I see authorized (FY20 and 21) for 67-series in the ARNG SRIP Policy Memo is for 67J.

CPT (Join to see) - Today I received word that the situation was resolved - that I can remain in the 67D slot as a 73A and receive the bonus, and the reason they thought I couldn't was due to an oversight. Didn't say whose oversight, and though my curiosity about how it works is not satisfied (I still don't really get how it's supposed to work, since CPT Blount and SGM Mccloud's explanations make sense), I'll just take the good news for what it is.

Thanks for your input!
