Is Call to Active Duty (CAD) the only way for an Officer to transfer from the RC to RA?

For some background, I'm currently branched EN, will be attending EBOLC in April 2019 and I'm already drilling with my unit in a PL slot. I also just want to clarify that I assessed into the Reserves not because of the OML but because I decided to go GRFD for the added benefits while in college. I have deeply regretted that decision.
I've heard rumors that some 2LTs have been able to switch to Active during BOLC but on communication with my the my branch manager I've been told CAD is the only way. Even if there is a new CAD for FY19 I probably wouldn't be able to utilize it since I'll still be in BOLC at that time.
I know for enlisted personal they go the conditional release route, is that possible for Officers?

Sir, it is something I have considered if going Active just isn't a possibility. I know HRC allows 2LTs to apply for AGR but would you happen to know the kind of slots that they fill? I would imagine most officers in AGR to be BN staff, or higher, PMS/APMS, etc, which all seem like CPT+ slots.

CAD is the only way for a RC/NG officer to change over to AD. The last CAD MILPER message excluded the majority of 2LTs and 1LTs. You may not be able to apply until you are a CPT, by that time the CAD program may be much more restrictive.
Was your GRFD contract linked to a scholarship? If it was you may be pinned to the RC for six years until they are willing to release you.
If you can apply. You will have to get a conditional release from your component. The CAD MILPER message has instructions on how to complete the process.

CPT Blake Ruggiero, you must first complete your Military Service Obligation (MSO) associated with your GRFD scholarship by serving eight years in the Reserves, then you may apply for the Call to Active Duty Program (CAD) through HRC.
