Is chest hair regulated?

I’ve heard that AR 670-1 states that chest hair may not be visible while in uniform. However, I have been unable to find such a section in the regs.
I’m starting to think that someone made it up and people started believing it.
Maybe I’m just blind, can someone paste that part of the regulation in if you find it?

A quick google search came up empty. In my time in the service I have never heard of such a thing. I've also served with some really hairy people.

PFC Darby,
AR 670-1 does not say anything about chest hair. As long as chest hair does not detract from the military apperance it is acceptable.

According to AR 670-1 Chapter 3-2, "d. Hygiene and body grooming. Soldiers will maintain good personal hygiene and grooming on a daily basis and wear the uniform so as not to detract from their overall military appearance."

I LOL when I read this, as I actually had this come up ONE time in 21 years.
Soldiers chest hair poked up above the top of his t-shirt and Class A shirt. Someone had insisted he had to trim it, and he came to me for advice. As other comment stated, grooming and not detract was the only reference that I found to apply.

Grooming standards dictate. Think about hair over the ears, mustache hanging in g the mouth. It is simply good vrooming you not have hair popping out of your uniform.

PFC Private RallyPoint Member, I’ll comment counter to the preponderance of responses you’ve received. Granted, I don’t think you’ll find any specificity in the AR, but I agree with CSM Darieus ZaGara‘s thoughts on the subject and it all goes back to OCS.
There, no chest hair could show above the T shirt in any uniform. It was considered poor grooming. Tac Officers would literally pull by hand any visible hair. Guys learned quickly to stay groomed according to OCS standards, and I adhere to them to this day.
There were other grooming requirements at OCS that still serve me to this day as well.

I don't know about AR 670-1 and chest hairs.
However I once slid down a hill into a patch of black palm.
The medic said he had never shaved so much body hair off a guy.

Seems the military has become somewhat selective on what does or does not detract from overall military appearance. If they can grant an exception for religious beards why not chest hair?
