I'm looking to go back active duty and exploring all of my options coming from prior service Army into different branches. I had a NC1 tell me that Civil Affairs is a direct convert to Mass Comm and I would not even go to A school. Does that sound right? Would the Navy really rely on giving me OJT or would I have a chance to certify?

I have a civilian degree in Journalism and Public Relations, so MC does interest me, but I can assure anyone that Army Civil Affairs is not even close to what MC does. The recruiter also mentioned I would have to come in RC and try to request AC. Has anyone in the current MC community ever experienced this coming from a different branch or converting from reserve to active?

Thanks. I'm in touch with a NC1 at the local NOSC about the details. I'm just crowdsourcing some data from the current MC community to see what I might be getting into. I also have a local Army E6 keeping me posted on 46S business rules.
