Is disconnecting a persons email a good way to let them know they are no longer employed?

I've seen sum humdingers over the years. One of the worst was when we were letting someone go and HR prematurely/accidentally processes the employees "final pay" and it when out a month early in the employees normal pay cycle. The employee, upon getting the final pay, knew the jig was up. Not good.

There is a professional and an unprofessional way to do things if you work in a professional environment you should be treated as such

It's a way to let a person know they need to look for a new job. Not a good way, but a way!
After I had been let go from one job, my corporate email still worked for some months after the fact. Very weird!
