Everywhere I go all I hear is talk about Donald Trump. He is playing us all and are we just promoting his brand, his name, and making him even more of a billionaire?

I never thought of that till reading this. But now that i think about it it is not beneath him to do something like this. You know what they say "no such thing as bad publicity". All he does is say what is on everyone mind but i have yet to hear him say how he would fix anything.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I kind of hope he is. He's so polarizing that if he wins, there'll be like this mental civil war schism (in other words, half the country is going to hate the other half...rabidly. More than they do now) that will do none of us any good. We need to get back to being a united country, not the divided one we are now. I don't think he can help with that.

My personal opinion is:

1) He's promoting the Trump Brand.

2) It's advantageous for him to have Democrats in office (he is dividing the Republican vote, and pulling a Perot).

I don't think he is playing. With his ego, he really wants to show the world he is the man and nobody is going to tell him otherwise. However, I think his polls will drop over time as people get tired of listening to him. We've seen these things in the past where candidates come out hot early only to falter over the next 15 months. Just the same as we've seen week candidates grow stronger. He is running a sprint and not a marathon.

Although, he does potentially have the money to run a long sprint.

What I found funny about the article (since when is Linked In in the politics game anyway? LOL) is that it was all about "Trump is promoting his brand." Well duh, of course he is. What candidate ISN'T promoting his or her brand? That's how they get people interested in voting for them.

I've said it before and it bears repeating. Trump is not my #1 choice but he does have my interest and I will vote for him if he gets nominated only because voting third party/write-in candidates are a wasted vote.

Some people like to bring up the fact that he has declared bankruptcy on a few business. I say "so what?" He's obviously had more success than failure.

It is also mentioned that he "doesn't talk like a politician." Again I say so what? Right now he is saying what needs to be said. Though I can't help but wonder if he's only saying these things because it's what we Americans want to hear. I think the only way we'll find out if he's sincere is if he gets elected.

Mr. Trump may of started out as a joke not thinking he would get far, maybe it was a dare. Or maybe he just wanted to rattle some cages since many said he wouldnt run. But now that he has seen hes actually reach out and touched people; his voice being heard.. He has very good chance to take this thing all the way, and I think he realizes that now and he is going to give it a shot for the top.

In regards to whether hes blowing hot steam up our ass, let me ask you this.. Which president hasnt? I will vote for him because I see no reason to vote for anyone else, and if it comes down to Hillary or this man, I am putting my life in Trumps hands not hers. Benghazi situation is to deep she covered up that and maybe more and for her to pretend shes technically stupid and pretend nothing has been done to her servers/computer although it took them however many weeks/months to produce is a slap in Americas face. She essentially pulled a Bill Clinton, but at least what he did was more honorable then her actions.

He's got a lot of ideas and I have a feeling he's feeling the wind a lot of times with his statements, yet he acts like an American. Possibly. As with most presidential hopefuls he has his strengths and weaknesses and successes and failures. The fundamental question for me, is simple, is he capable of leading the country? Once you strip away the bombast, theatrics and posturing, can he lead? Is he willing to accept the constraints imposed by the office? Is he willing to trust his empire to another while he serves? Is he capable of being a statesman of stature as Presidnet of the United States, or simply First Clown Prince?

I do not doubt his instinct, his business acumen, his tenacity, drive or determination. He has built a successful global brand, and many of the attributes that enabled that success, are essential for running a nation. Can he, or will he, be willing to focus on something larger and beyond his own self interests? [By way of comparison, consider a former Republican hopeful, Ross Perot.]

He is, to me, a wild card in the candidate selection process. Frankly, At this point he is still just a candidate to be the Republican candidate for President. He may be the front runner of the moment, however, this is a marathon, not a sprint. The Republican candidate will not be selected until the national convention. Until then he is a rolling stone running. Into and sometimes over other aspirants to the nomination. If they survive, they may be stronger for it, but at what cost?

The greater risk for the Republicnas is what will happen if Mr Trump is not the Republican nominee? He is perhaps a greater threat as an independent candidate, as in that role he is most likely to draw votes away from the Republicans, thereby helping the eventual Democratic candidate to win.

Donald, Ben and Carly - All non-politicians. All extremely successful in their careers. All people who think America first. All whose professional careers are filled with executive decision making. Are they 'playing us'? Shouldn't we be asking about Ted, Marco, Chris and the rest of the professional political class? Trump will not win the nomination of the Republocrat Party. Figorina will not win. Cruz has a chance, but less than 60-40 I'd say. Rubio is the establishment (coastal big money Republocrats) favorite - he will mystically prevail. Donald, Ted or Carly would make really good presidents, Cruz or Carly better than Trump in my opinion, but that can NEVER happen. Do not be surprised if Rubio is chosen at a 'brokered' convention - then I stay home and check on my food supply and ammunition on election day....no sense in voting for either Rubio or Hillary - one is just socialism lite, might as well go all in and destroy what's left of the economy and liberty with Hillary.... More than anything the Republocrats remind me of the Whig party of Lincoln's time, they became so irrelevant and indistinguishable from the other parties they just disappeared. Save your I Like Ike buttons, they will represent a historical entity soon.

To be honest I don't think that Donald Trump is playing us all COL Mikel J. Burroughs. He certainly isn't playing me or most of the people I associate with.
I don't particularly like him; but, I find it refreshing that somebody who is not a career politician is running for the highest office. Certainly like everybody who has ever worked in a large organization, including the US military, he is well versed in office political skills/
Those who think that Donald Trump is playing them should take to heart the admonition "You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time" - attributed variously to Abraham Lincoln and PT Barnum. Hopefully voters will exercise discernment in large numbers for once and not be fooled :-)

I have a problem with Mr. Trump quick witted responses and high school kid mentality. It seems to me that he has a business man first attitude and has simplistic solutions to international problems that have no defined lines drawn in the sand. Our world is not his person reality show where he can say "You're fired!"; and expect someone else to fix the problem. I say this, serve your country first, then you can see first hand how the world is very complex in resolving international issues. So you said "I will put America first;" but yet you seem to enjoy the compliments from President Putin. So that means you must agree with our current President"s negotiations with Russia on military strategies on ISIS and Syria, huh, interesting? And not to mention the long lasting affects in the region with the rest of the Arab countries, and how the oil industry may respond your political decisions or Executive orders.....I will end with this; things may look simple and easy when you are not the one making the decision to put American troop in harms way. But once you take that oath, you will be making history on EVERY decision you make. So do not take the Presidency so lightly Mr. Trump, because the Presidency is the most powerful position in the free world, God Bless America!!!!

Yes! I've been saying this since he started his Campaign. He has no politics, he's a business man. Money making has been his talent his whole life. Trust and cooperation are things he has zero ability to instill and inspire because they are emotions. You can't just shout them out as orders. he has no leadership ability, no love for this country or of its citizens. Money making is all his good at. No apparent signs of an Ivy League education, not scholarly at all. Shows no sense of refinement or class. These candidates should represent the best of us! I have said it before, and I will say it again (for the first time on RP): I don't care who is elected to be POTUS. That person deserves to be given a chance to do the job before we criticize them. I personally don't like President Trump's lifestyle or how he APPARENTLY treats people. I also know that EVERY SINGLE PERSON who tears him down and attacks his intent or his behavior, as well as those who extol his positive characteristics has their own INTENTION for doing so.
