Donald Trump is as conservative as he needs to be at any given moment. He is like every other politician out there. He will say and do what he thinks the people want to hear to get elected. After that it's a crap shoot if he will really represent those that actually vote for him.

I don't think he is a conservative as defined by the GOP in the 21st century. He is more of a populist in my view. He appeals to many across ages/sex/race/income/education level etc. He is conservative on some issues (borders/immigration/jobs/taxes etc), more liberal on others (planned parenthood/healthcare etc.

It doesn't matter that the GOP defines conservative a certain way, they are simply ineffective at getting things done they have promised their constituents election after election. The GOP has created Trump through inaction, dithering and feckless leadership in the house and senate. If you want to put the blame for the rise of Trump somewhere, look no further than the house and senate leadership on the GOP side of the aisle.

Beck is now being a useful tool for both the GOP (who does not like him) and the democrats (who like him even less). Beck is not smart enough (apparently) to know when he is being used by others to do their dirty work. He may indeed not care for Trump and that is fine but Trump is popular for a reason. The GOP needs to do some root cause resolution with their base and figure out why they are now on the outside looking in at their own party.

I see little difference between Donald Trump and Barack Obama. Neither is conservative nor liberal for the simple reason that both are driven by narcissism rather than principle. Their allegiance to Left or Right is driven by expedience. Both are progressives. Donald Trump will govern just as Barack Obama has, by plenary powers. Just as Barack Obama and progressives have before him, Donald Trump will bridle at the limitations of enumerated powers. He will announce some sort of crisis and then lead the nation by virtue of his vision of how best to surmount it. Inasmuch as Trump has already made enemies of the GOP establishment, he will be far happier with a Democratic-dominated Congress which, I believe, explains much of his campaign rhetoric that is putting GOP majorities in both chambers in danger.

That being said, I will most likely vote for him because all I have said is speculation. With Hillary in the White House, the United States will be forced to suffer through an Administration hobbled by criminality (and that's no speculation). We've seen Hillary in leadership roles and it ain't pretty. Remember Travelgate? Hillarygate? The blood trail of so many potential witnesses to Hillary scandals who died suddenly (conveniently) before they could be brought to testify. The prima facie case of Hillary's email server, mishandling of national secrets, and failure to turn over all paperwork after leaving office (as required by law). Already, the State Department has announced that they won't investigate her "alleged" crimes until after the November election. Will they then suspend investigation for four more years if you elected and another four if she's reelected?

I don't believe any politician to be what they claim; the reason Trump resonates with many from the left, right, and middle is that he is not being bought during the campaign season and he is not viewed as a professional politician. Whether he delivers or not remains to be seen but he at least has experience running a multi-faceted business in domestic and foreign markets.

From the results of the primaries, it looks like Donald Trump has redefined the word "conservative" and has taken most of the right-leaning voters with him. Glenn Beck is now talking to a sparse crowd of people who have been left at the alter.

Trump is Trump. He is loyal to Trump. He is neither Right nor Left, Liberal or Conservative. As he has said, "Everything is negotiable". What will he be as President? To paraphrase Nancy Pelosi, "You'll just have to elect him to find out". Why then am I going to vote for him and take the risk? Because it's just a risk with Trump. With Hillary, it's an absolute danger.

Just because he's the only hope in the race, I've been something of a Trump cheerleader on RP; however, I have long had a concern that he is, as you suggest, a shill for the left. Unlike other politicians Trump is not bound with a political logic. He is not loyal to a party. He will driven by success and what works. He ripped apart the Republican party and then he gets the most of any primary vote of any primary in Republican history. So I don't blame him. He is what the people want. Politicians are more loyal to their party than the people. And Glen is the conservative version of Al Franklin. He will be irrelevant in time.

I am a true conservative, yet still see why he needs to be able to negotiate with the opposition to get things done. rather than bow down to the alter of Debbie Wasserman-Shults and her ilk. I see Trump as center right as most right winged politicians are. Stances may be different between candidates. I wouldn't necessarily call him a conservative when you compare Trump to another candidate like Ted Cruz.
