Signed an waiver to wave my 2 diagnostics to take a second after just 2weeks later. Failed situps by 3. About to talk to our company commander as to why I should still be retained. My question is, is it 3 soft failures to get chaptered out? & that's the exact regulation? Is it 2 or 3 APFT failures to initiate the separation process? What is the exact regulation? 2018-12-25T10:17:45-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 4234172

Took an apft, terminated for running (am a walker)/insufficient evidence & graded unfairly. Why is it you cannot do sit ups or run? That is 2/3rds of the test! I would assume that you have been given time to improve seeing that you are a Spc. Just think about it, if it was that easy to separate, the Army numbers would drop 70% due to SM's failing 2 APFT...... I know if I was in control, you would be on special pops until you pass. There would be no talk, no chapters. You will fulfill your contract that you enlisted for...... I would think that you would have to fail APFTs administered by BN CMD personnel functioning as an objective or neutral arbiter.
Irrespective as to whether I am correct or not, I would expect every member of the unit to have the right of appeal to very senior authority or the IG (though I would make the IG my very last stop). You are a walker by what I gather, that still means you have to make the time whether you run, jog, walk or hop. You claim you were graded unfairly, but how does one grade unfairly on a running event? You stay to the designated course, you start when they say go and the stopwatch determines your time across.

Then, you waived your 2 diagnostics to take a second record APFT. And you fail the sit up portion by 3 which tells me a great deal.

As to regulations it is up to command. You failed your first one, they can then initiate a flag. You are then on a remedial program to try to bring you back in line with military standards. You fail a second and they can begin the chapter process to remove you for inability to meet standards.

You need to take your ass to the gym, get your battle buddy and the two of you work out together to get your ass in shape because as of now you have no place in the army. The U.S. Military for damn sure does not want you to hear something like "I am a walker" as an excuse to not passing a running test. THE U.S. Military needs people that they know will pick up the pace when they have to and they will do whatever they have to do and be wherever they have to be for the team. I have not seen anyone unfairly grade a pt test. I here this all the time from reservist, excuses why they failed and it’s always their leaderships fault in one way or another. Sounds like someone wants to get out. This also carries over to NCOES, specialists don’t want to attend BLC so they fail the pt test every time they take it. By regulation, he/she can initiate separation after 2 consecutive failed record APFTs or if you show patterns of failure. If the command team likes you, however, and wish to retain you, they will work with you and give you adequate time to get to a point where you can pass. But in the future, i would strongly advise you not to wave your diagnostic APFTs unless you know for sure the one you failed prior was a fluke. As a walker myself, i know how tempting it can be to shave a few seconds when nobody is looking, but know that someone always is. Unless there's that one NCO that is trying to fry you, it is unlikely they would sabotage your test. Work on getting in shape so you can crush your APFT and it's no longer a problem for you. Failed the sit-ups, terminated for running during a walk. SPC you have only one choice to make...am I going to be a soldier, or is it time for me to move on. If you have such a difficult time meeting the APFT requirements now, the new PT test is going to tear you up...decide, be the best soldier you can be...which includes committing to maintaining my Physical abilities to support yourself and your team mates as a soldiers, if you're just there for the money/job...its time to move on...because if the APFT doesn't get you the deployability will. Time to soldier or time to move on, its your decision, and only you control your future. Pass the APFT and all this goes away, simple.
