Is it acceptable for a LEO to bait a fight with a disrespectful kid?

There was a double-body cam video released of a police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call. While he was on the scene, he picked a fight with a young man (looked to be around 18-19) because the kid would not stop running his mouth. Is it acceptable to conduct yourself this way while on the job as a law enforcement official?

EDIT: I do understand the desire to want to shut this kid down, and I completely disagree with the blatant disrespect given to a man who was only doing his job. But what do you think of this, RallyPoint?

Negative. Never bait. The one thing ALL officers must remember, they are ALWAYS being watched. Any act that appears shady, whether it is or not, is bad.

In a word, never. The one thing the police seem to forget is "professionalism". This guy wasn't acting like a professional, he was acting like a thug.

Both of them are in the wrong here. And hey, guess what? Mr. Tough Guy talking all big and bad to the police got to enjoy a beat down. And Mr. Unprofessional lost his job. So who won this fight? Society.

The officer was wrong in this case, in my humble opinion, and I hope the proper actions are taken. Not everyone is right for this, or any other, position.

Yea, I'd say that's not just unprofessional; that's assault and battery. Cop needs to spend some time in jail.

in the CCW and Security Classes I have Taken over the years The LEO's made it Clear ... it was Never Good or Wise to "Bait or Egg" anyone into any thing...

He messed up by baiting and engaging him. At the same time the hood rat got what he deserved and clearly needed a beating earlier on in his life.

The Officer definitely acted improperly, but I certainly feel for the situation he was in. This is what I find wrong with some of the kids in this country today. There is an unfortunate lack of respect for the Police and for that matter, any sort of authority.

The problem as I see it is a single officer responding to a domestic disturbance call which is one of the most dangerous calls to respond to. Most police departments would handle that with at least two officers. As for the kid, should have been arrested and hauled away for interfering with a law enforcement officer, hence again.......only one officer here?

The officers know their ROEs and need to follow them or risk seeing charges dismissed and his own job maybe suspended or terminated
