I don't see that there would be an issue with wearing it. It's more common than you think. I actually got the Order of St. Michael (Aviation) before I got my own branch's(MI) award. From my side of the house (Artillery) we have the St.barbs award. I can’t begin to tell you how many signal officers or intel that are branch detailed will get this mediallion, over chiefs or gunnery sergeants who have shot hundreds, if not thousands of rounds. It’s just like awards, not earned, just given. Sounds like a rant, but it’s really not. Just facts. In the 62nd we nominated and had awarded the Engineer Regiments Bronze DeFleury to the Signals officer and NCOIC for their work on obtaining and installing the counter IED devices on our equipment saving who knows how many of our guys from IEDs, and the PA and Medic NCOIC who ran the BAS on deployment.
While stationed at Ft. Sill several of our NCOs received the order of St. Barbara for designing and building a firebase that was selected to serve as the doctrinal standard for an update to one of the FA manuals.
So yes if awarded the Officer can wear them.
