Protestors wanted to be heard regarding their stance on the Confederate flag and staged a demonstration to confront POTUS about it. Thankfully we live in the United States where whatever your opinion you are allowed to voice it.

Appropriate? It's a Civil Right, so appropriate is an odd word to use. It's well within their Rights, and although I use the phrase "Just because you can doesn't mean you should" this is peaceful Protest. Exercising a Civil Right, especially a Protected one, isn't about appropriateness. It's not Protected because it's "appropriate." It's protected specifically because it isn't always.
The same applies to Respect and Disrespect.

It is a civil right and freedom of speech. As long as it's peaceful then it should not be disrespectful.
