Is it normal for a National Guard unit to schedule two AT's with a muta 8 sandwiched in between? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-it-normal-for-a-national-guard-unit-to-schedule-two-at-s-with-a-muta-8-sandwiched-in-between

My National Guard unit has scheduled two AT's with a muta 8 sandwiched in between. Does anyone know if that is legal, or where I could reference the regulations regarding the scheduling of training? We'll be heading out of state and be out of state for the entire duration of the AT-drill-AT. I feel like they're doing this to save a couple of bucks, but I'd like to be informed before I start any battles. Thanks for your help! There were a couple years where our Reserve unit sent half of the company on a 20-21ish day AT, then fly home, at which point the other half of the company flew in and did another 20-21 day AT; with a handful of troops doing both legs. Does seem a bit odd to have a muta in between though. Never heard of that.

I'll be curious to see if anyone has deeper insight. As a commander I only had to ensure I got all the days in required for a good year. and there were times we had a one day or half day of BA so we could stack up before AT, or maybe for a BN Range they wanted to do. In the end as long as the meet the requirement for the BA needed for a good year that is what matters.

Side question are you all getting ready to go somewhere?? Normally if the unit is gearing up would you kind of see this. They're doing that so instead of cutting one set or orders over 30+ days, they have you all on multiple sets of continuous orders, thus avoiding BAH.

IMO, avoiding that BAH is kind of BS because your soldiers likely are going to make much less with just their base pay than their civilian jobs and need that BAH to help cover the monthly costs. I know I'd be screwed if the Army sent me away for a month and only gave me base pay. SSG Carlos Madden Fri, 23 Aug 2019 16:45:24 -0400 2019-08-23T16:45:24-04:00 Response by LTC Ray B. The only issues I see are travel but if they are doing a unit travel order then no issue. LTC Ray B. (Ret) Fri, 23 Aug 2019 16:55:40 -0400 2019-08-23T16:55:40-04:00 2019-08-23T14:43:26-04:00
