Is it OK for direct selling home business owners to send unsolicited messages to other RP users?

Do you think it would be ok for someone who owns a DS business like Pampered Chef, Avon, Tupperware, etc., to start a discussion about their business or to send a message unsolicited to other RP users?

I personally believe that RP is not the place to recruit other people in these types of businesses and it would be out of place as far as discussions go.

To send an unsolicited message in any social setting online is spamming pure and simple.

I'd much prefer that we leave this venue for professional discussions and networking. Personal business solicitation should be left for other commercial venues.

I honestly can't stand being directly marketed to via social media, email or phone and I will let someone know that they need to lose my info or be flagged/reported. If someone knocks on my door, I will probably be polite but still tell them to beat feet. Unless they have chocolate.

I think it would be ok, however, I do not know for sure what the site bylaws are....this may be "not allowed". Would hate for you to get in trouble. I do not think unsolicited messages would fly very well.

Home Based business although lucrative and sometimes dirty needs to be done on personal time it should not be used in Social media sites such as this. It is a matter of appropriate taste and manners moreso than being punished for it. I guess trying to sell something on a site like this is just tacky...

I don't see a problem with it, but this site is for professional networking, so people should think about what image of themselves they are portraying.

Not only no, BUT heck no! To me this is a violation of what I expect from this site. I get enough of this stuff on FB and emails.

Onceuponatime: My wife entered into a home based business without checking with me first. She knew I had a lot of contacts through my work (I was and E-7 Company Commander at Great Lakes). She sure was disappointed when I explained to her that I could not solicit anyone under my command in a lower paygrade.

I would hope we observe something like that in the ACDU Military today also. Soliciting juniors is putting undue pressure on them no matter what you are asking them to do.

Most companies have rules about unsolicited emails...whether people obey them or not, less confidence. I have one of those businesses, and I have been solicited many times by inferior companies' reps...doesn't bother me in the least.

Yea Facebook and pintrest and every other site has way too much of that crap. I am glad RP hasn't folded for such things.
