Can Females wear "Male Attire when on Liberty?" That question cannot be answered, because it is too Subjective. Pants, socks, shirt, etc.

The real question is: "Is this outfit within the parameters of Appropriate Liberty Attire according to the regulations"

In the USMC we have regulations which state what may and may not be worn. Things like partial uniform items may not be worn. If belt loops are present, a belt MUST be worn. Males may not wear earrings. These are merely examples.

Civilian attire, on liberty (as opposed to Leave), is a privilege, and we must conform to the applicable service regulation. Each service is a little different however. I do not believe the UCMJ itself has any specific Article which prohibits wearing of an article of clothing, so this would fall under "failure to follow an order or regulation, et al"

So to really answer your question, go to the Navy Regulation regarding Uniforms, and then the section regarding Civilian Attire while on liberty. It mentions that you represent the Army in and out of uniform and while on or off duty.
It goes back to the argument as to what is considered professional. ADRP 1: The Army Profession states that professionalism is driven by the culture. That still leaves much up for interpretation as we have no regulation as to what the culture believes that males/females should wear.
