Is it okay for my girlfriend to pin my CPT bars at my unit's award ceremony?

Can my girlfriend of two years pin my CPT rank bars at my promotion ceremony which is being held at a unit outdoor awards ceremony? I don't have close family in the state, so she'd be my closest connection. It's a personnel-inclusive awards ceremony, and my girlfriend may end up being the only civilian attending if I invite her to do so. Do you think it's acceptable, or should I just choose someone in the unit to do so.

It's your promotion. You can choose whomever you want to pin you.

or not get pinned at all. I've had several promotions where I just got my orders and started wearing the new rank. pinned myself. lol

That is also the great thing about velcro rank. They wanted to "wait" on promoting me after I had made the date. So at work I wore SSG, and once I left the door I put my SFC on.

SFC John Wade - when I made E5, I got orders and E5 pay starting in FEB, by May they still hadn't gotten around to Promoting me so I showed up for MAY drill with SPC rank on one collar and SGT rank on the other. 1SG almost had a stroke. I calmly explained that I was merely confused because I had orders in hand and was getting paid as E5 but no one from the unit had said anything to me about it. He marched me down to the Commander's office and we had a WTF discussion with the CO and then an immediate formation where I was officially pinned.

As far as I know, you can get whoever you want to pin you. My wife has done mine for the last 3 promotions.
