Is it permissible under USN regulations (if not necessarily smart) for a USN warrant officer to date a USN senior commissioned officer?

I ask because I am co-writing a novel where two of our characters, a SEAL (corpsmen) warrant and a female USN Captain might wind up having an affair. I'm trying to navigate USN regs on the matter. From what I understand, there is no UCMJ article preventing such a union; I just don't know about Navregs in particular. Thanks for the help.

If the warrant is directly in the line of command of the officer, it goes against most command policies on fraternization (prejudicial to good order and discipline). As such, it could be tried under Article 134 or Article 92 (failure to obey a lawful order or regulation). You'd be hard-pressed on the books to have them not be in the chain of command in that environment. As mentioned, there are fornication and adultery articles as well (sodomy, unnatural carnal acts, et cetera). There are also criminal potential of sexual assault/sexual harassment, especially if the CAPT is a signatory on his evaluations (undue preferential treatment). Food for thought. Fraternization between enlisted and officers, lower enlisted and NCOs, Senior NCOs and Lower NCOs, and Civilian Contractors and military personnel is prohibited by both regulation and punishable in the UCMJ look at the Gen Article 134. It should be some place on your commands policy board. Ask your EOL, EOA, SHARP Rep, and Chain of Command.

My wife was an Ensign fresh out of OCS when we met. We were both in the same command. We were both division officers in the communications department. She had zero to do with my fitreps and no authority over my division. She retired in January this year as an O-5 Commander. I do not see a problem as long as the two officers are not in a position to evaluate or in the same direct chain of command.

Sit-rep .. I was at Langley and had a friend that was a Spc4... We played cool until she got promoted to Spc5 .. we had catch’g Up on mak’g out. We still Werd careful about that.. I still outranked her by quite a few years. .. She was assigned to an aviation unit on our base..
