Is it possible for a former USMC Reserve E-3 to get E-4 before going to AIT for the Army National Guard? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-it-possible-for-a-former-usmc-reserve-e-3-to-get-e-4-before-going-to-ait-for-the-army-national-guard <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As a former e3 in the Marine Corp reserves i was wondering if it was possible to make e4 either before going to or during AIT for Army National guard? I was in the the Marine reserve for 3 years and I’ve been out for about a year now. I want to get e4 because I hear marine e3 and army e4 are pretty much just the same thing. He is a former Marine and works there full time.... Also, here&#39;s a bit of advice. I have been in the Army for over 20 years and have met many former Marine&#39;s who became Soldiers and we chewed up and spit out the ones who couldn&#39;t make the transition to becoming 100% Soldier. Making comparisons like &quot;Marine E3 is the same as Army E4&quot; will get you chewed up and spit out. Best of luck to you. What branch? Common systems of some kind? Are you doing any undergrad or have you done any at all? I just wondered, I didn&#39;t know if you&#39;d thought of warrant or commissioned, I know you didn&#39;t say that, I just have an interest in such things, I&#39;d be most eager to hear more...since you were ground radio repair in USMCR, would you want elec engrg (EE) or elec engrg tech (EET) at all, maybe through SUNY or a private school? I&#39;d just wondered, I know NYNM has that program to let those drilling with them compete for SUNY funding, tough SUNY started that income based Excelsior Scholarship for SUNY programs through NYS Higher Ed Svcs Corp (HESC), I just didn&#39;t know if you&#39;d thought of such things as well, at all.... <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="https://dmna.ny.gov/jobs/">NYS DMNA Job Opportunities</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">State, Army and Air Force Technician and AGR Vacancies, Contact Information and Links to Job Banks and Other Opportunities, Services and Job-search Tools through the New York Division of Military and Naval Affairs</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Capt Daniel Goodman Wed, 16 May 2018 21:33:08 -0400 2018-05-16T21:33:08-04:00 Response by SGT Victoria Belbusti made May 16 at 2018 9:34 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-it-possible-for-a-former-usmc-reserve-e-3-to-get-e-4-before-going-to-ait-for-the-army-national-guard?n=3634541&urlhash=3634541 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you have a degree you can come in as an E4. You will need a grade determination and based on time in service not likely. Is your RE code 1? If you require a waiver, you can expect the answer to be no. You’ll enlist as an E-3 and then wait to fulfill the TIG requirements and then be promoted to E-4. Send me a connection request and I’ll go more into detail. I’ve been active Army for a year now.
