He was enlisted Marines/AF Reserve. He obtained his PPL & successfully got into UPT. He was allowed to skip the first portion because that is when they were teaching those who had never flown before, how to fly a plane. I would think, with the pilot shortage & desperate situation right now, that you have a pretty dang good shot.Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 10 at 2018 12:40 PM2018-01-10T12:40:07-05:002018-01-10T12:40:07-05:00SN Greg Wright3244205<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You don't have to wait. Request a transfer. It may or may not be approved, but with the pilot shortage the AF has now, my guess is they'll be incentivized to go to bat for you.Response by SN Greg Wright made Jan 10 at 2018 1:42 PM2018-01-10T13:42:02-05:002018-01-10T13:42:02-05:00LTJG Don Biscoe3272687<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Probably not (one of my buddies is a retired AF Col and can't get a billet) - but the Civil Air Patrol could really use your talents. It's not a paying gig but the flying cheap or free and you get a chance to work with some great folks, kids included!Response by LTJG Don Biscoe made Jan 19 at 2018 9:52 AM2018-01-19T09:52:35-05:002018-01-19T09:52:35-05:00MAJ Raymond Haynes3272727<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In my case they subtracted my enlisted time from my actual age so I slid under the wire. There was no pilot shortage back then, I hope they will be glad to see you.<br />What's the difference between an AF pilot and a Pig?
