Is it possible for me to transfer units and attend school while waiting for my clearance to come back?

I am trying to transfer units so I can reclass. They told me they can't transfer me because I don't have a security clearance and that takes 6 months to get. My issue is why can't I just transfer units and attend school while waiting for my clearance to come back?

Ask for an interm clearance.

I suspect because it's possible that your clearance will be denied.

Because you are in the Reserves and the gaining unit does not have to accept you since you are transferring so they can put prerequisites like security clearance etc. on your transfer as well your unit doesn't have to allow the transfer.

Because that unit that your are assigned to started your clearance process and if you transfer out then they can or will cancel your clearance request.

You cannot receive the transfer until you receive your clearance (even an Interim) because the assignment requires the clearance. There is no guaranty you will obtain a clearance therefore, the move/transfer would be premature and unauthorized. Your only option is to await the approval of the clearance. As for college during Drill time, good luck.
