HRC tells them how many slots are available and where/when. Might try geeting hold of HRC. You have to however pass the airborne physical examination using DD Form 2807/08 on hand and a PT test administered at your unit by a qualified NCO! Preparing yourself physically is actually where you should start. That is beyond the scope of a recruiter. Their job is to get you into the military and into a school slot. Sure, HRC is showing an availability for a 92A at Bragg but do not count on getting it. It is possible for him to get you a seat in Airborne school, but that is not necessary at Bragg, nor a guarantee you will be with the 82nd Response by SSG Brian G. made Mar 14 at 2021 12:05 AM 2021-03-14T00:05:33-05:00 2021-03-14T00:05:33-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 6821726

HRC isn't going to be the biggest help to you in your conditional release. They look up open positions open to current active-duty members that they can control. For you, you're not going to be on that list until after you complete the conditional releases process.

The good news is due to your rank, and the army won't have to do a lot to approve your transfer, which will help you get station where you want, but it will never be a guarantee.

The final call on where you will be sent will come from the (ROC). Sometimes they will slot you for an available position before you complete MEPS; if that's the case, your recruiter will give you the news. On the other hand, the MEPS NCO might call the (ROC) while your at MEPS, and you'll find out at the same time they do.

If you don't get fort Bragg the best thing you could do is talk to the NCO at MEPS, they can call the ROC and ask for permission to move you to a different slot or unit. However, if they tell you no, that's it. You can take the available contract and join active duty or refuse it and go back home.

**If you haven't already read up on (PRIOR SERVICE BUSINESS RULES) on both the go army page and the HRC webpage.

I hope this helps you out, and good luck Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 14 at 2021 12:08 AM 2021-03-14T00:08:13-05:00 2021-03-14T00:08:13-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 6821786

100% No. If you get training you won't get a duty station of choice. If you get a duty station of choice you only get a duty station not anything more specific. However if you do get airborne training you'll go to an Airborne unit Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 14 at 2021 1:01 AM 2021-03-14T01:01:24-05:00 2021-03-14T01:01:24-05:00 CPL Private RallyPoint Member 6822500

i already have my 368 approved and in hand and i qualify for option 18 so how do i go about that? However I can tell you from my personal experience, after I re-enlisted for Airborne my career counselor had no trouble getting HRC to add Fort Bragg as a follow-on assignment. About 80% of all the airborne slots in the Army are at Bragg, most of those in the 82nd. There are usually more people trying to leave the 82nd for more “exotic” airborne assignments then there are people trying to get to the 82nd, so I think your chances of doing the same as I did are good - with no guarantees, of course. Even if you don’t get there for your first airborne assignment, if you stay airborne chances are you will find yourself in the 82nd before long.

For what it’s worth, I loved my time in the deuce - best job I ever had.
