Hello all,
I am currently considering putting my packet together for Aviation Warrant Officer; I've wanted to fly since I was a child. However, not only do I wear glasses, I'm not a candidate for either Lasik or PRK. Would anyone happen to know if being a pilot is even possible for someone who wears glasses, or should I just bide me time until I'm eligible to submit a packet in my current CMF? Should I just schedule a Flight physical and see what their determination is?

Make them tell you no. Get a flight physical done. If you're out of standards, see if you can get a waiver. If all else fails, talk to an optometrist. Maybe they know another way. I have glasses and I'm in the flight program.

Back in the day, Warrents were allowed to go to flight school and long as their vision was correctable to 20/20. Commissioned Officers and Enlisted had to come in with 20/20 and if you need glasses later, in was ok as long as it was correcrale to 20/20. Don't know about now.

It’s absolutely possible, as long as your vision is 20/50 and correctable. I wear glasses.

I was asking about navigator back seat spots or for weapon sys ofcrs (WSOs)...Navy has them as NFOs, which as if said I did the weekend evil for and passed, naval flight ofcrs , I just never knew if Army had them for rotary wing, fixed wing of expect Army would, I was just never sure, would you know at all? If just wondered about that for awhile...I can fathom fixed and rotary wing pilots having the same acuity limits, I just never knew if have per se exist in Army aviation at all, or WSOs, if you might be able to say at all....

I also know USMC has NFOs since they mirror Navy, I've gathered...USCG or NOAA Corps I never knew for sure either, USAF has them as Nava going through UNT, as opposed to UPT for pilot, though the acronyms have doubtless morphed to something else bynow, you know?

You’ll never know if you don’t try. Flight phys won’t cost you anything and they have done great eye docs... you might get some good news..
