It's possible, unless you signed a GRFD scholarship.

That's been my understanding, that the ROTC commissioned are active unless on the GRFD or they select Reserve/Guard duty as their choice.

I was a non-scholarship SMP who was later commissioned into the Active Army. SMP Status doesn't affect accession.

Okay since someone told that wouldn't be possible since i would have to go into the guard since i would have a commitment to the guard

PFC (Join to see) - now that I think about it, I didn't go straight onto active duty from ROTC. Because I was prior service, I entered senior ROTC as a college freshman. I was commissioned into the National Guard as part of the early commissioning program and served at an LT in the Guard until I graduated. During my senior year in college I put in my accessions packet will all the regular ROTC cadets who were graduating. My college ROTC cadre helped me with packet even though I finished ROTC two years earlier. I was selected for active duty. Another thing I did while in the Guard was to avoid the Office Basic Course. (Has a different name now). That way I was not locked into the MOS assigned by the Guard and was able to compete for the MOS I wanted during the accessions process. I've been looking around on-line and don't see anything that indicates the process has changed. Your ROTC cadre will be able to fill you in on the current regulations. Good luck!

Yes, I did it. As long as you didn't accept a GRFD scholarship when you contracted, then you can compete for active duty. Please contact me if you have any more questions.

If there is still time remaining on your NG contract, do you have to pay back any tuition assistance you received?

SGT (Join to see) no, there is no recoupment for TA. However, a bonus is a different story.
