But when compared to PZ selection (60-85%) and Above the Zone selection (5-30%) I’d say your chance are significantly reduced. It’s very hard to overcome and your timing has to involve some luck, meaning the needs of the Army has to change/increase. I recommend having an exit strategy. I’ve rarely seen someone who was SELCON to stay in long enough as a CPT to reach 20 years without significant prior enlisted service.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If you have been passed over you may want to look into moving to the reserve. You can pick up rank and volunteer for tours to get to retirement.
