Is it possible to be reassigned prior to arriving at my new unit at Fort Bragg?

Just got my orders and they say that's where I'm going, kinda bummed, I wanted 2-505 but it is what it is, any experience here? Or is it possible to request to go to 2-505?

Your orders should show what brigade your assigned to and when you arrive you're assigned to a battalion.

First time I was with the 82nd, I was assigned to the 2nd 508th, the second time I got assigned to the the 82nd was with the 2nd 505th after being with the 2nd Inf, all were great units to be with, so what ever your unit assignment is, make the best of it. The best thing is, "You're with the 82nd ABN".

2-505 was awesome FYI. I’m not sure what you can do about it. When you get to Bragg you’ll hang out at garrison reception for a few days for inprocessing. All I can say is just ask and ask and ask some more when you get there. If you like the 82nd enough you can reup when you’re in your window and ask retention to slot you at 2P.

PV2 Dylan Karmolinski, you got order therefore is where you will report. Once you in the unit if they what they can transfer you but I will n’t count on it because you be in the 2-505. Enjoy it be happy, Airborne

Don't blame you for wanting to be assigned to the 2nd 505th, that's my old unit 2Bn. Charley company. Great fighting unit, went everywhere, Panama, White Sands, and Camp Lejeune, always worked with the SF teams at Bragg. "Good Luck"

I am very confused, are you working for a civilian company or US Army? You get order & your duty is to report, is what all real soldiers do PV2. You don’t have the luxury to request reassigned or this is Burger
