The federal government has one format they choose. Many recruiters disagree on the proper format. The rule of thought is keep it to two pages, concise with the information that best support why you are the right candidate for that job... But a good cover letter is key. Plus so many companies make you fill out online profiles, applications, questionnaires now. The days of just giving a HR manager you resume are coming to an end. A page like that would need to come with live assistant though. Each person and job are incredibly varied. I think a better how-to guide should be provided, multiple times. "Under these circumstances, this should be thought of". It's a hard one to tackle for some and easy for others. The challenge I foresee is demilitarizing the resume. EPR bullets make sense to us but not to someone who never did our job. Fire team leader, NCOIC, IMPACT certified means nothing. A live assistant or even a mentor we know who has already left the military is the way to go. Yes, seeing the style of how others wrote is useful in the same way EPR bullet sights are useful...to get ideas on different ways to tell the story so someone else can understand the action, results, and impact.
