While there isn&#39;t a cap for how long you can stay on an overseas tour, the Army doesn&#39;t like to go beyond four or five years. If you get your CSM involved, he can have a good chance to lock you in for a pin point assignment, but the longer you stay, the less pull he is going to have. What you&#39;ll have to ask for is a Continued Overseas Tour (COT), and a CSM usually has a limited number of names he can request to keep each year.
