Based on how competitive the GFRD scholarships are, I can't imagine the Army allowing an early release, even for the HPSP. I assume you are currently serving in your current Guard or RC obligation? Can't you just apply for the HPSP and use it towards your education and remain an Officer? I know many Soldiers (at all ranks) who manage to do both school and Army.

CPT (Join to see) and others: Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD)
The GRFD Scholarship is designed for people who have prior military service and would like to commission into either the Army National Guard or Army Reserve. These scholarships allow MOS qualified veterans to draw GI Bill benefits while simultaneously receiving scholarship benefits. These scholarships are awarded to the most outstanding applicants. In keeping with high standards of excellence, candidates are selected for scholarships based on an evaluation of their scholastic achievement and extra-curricular accomplishments, not on the basis of financial need.

HEALTH PROFESSIONS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (HPSP)
The U.S. Army can help pay for your advanced medical degree with one of the most comprehensive scholarships available in the health care field — The F. Edward Hébert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.

I think you might want to be a bit more descriptive. I am not sure what programs you are even talking about.
