I realized I didn’t get the job I wanted neither am I active duty but signed a reserved contract which was a mistake on my part .I am interested in the Marine Corps because of a job that I specifically want and know I can get immediately . I want to know Is it possible to get out of the DEP and go to another branch without getting a record on me or getting frowned upon by the military . If you change your mind again all services will treat you as damaged goods and you won&#39;t be able to join any branch. Tell your recruiter what you want and insist on it. It&#39;s YOUR decision. Until you swear-in the day you leave for basic you are a free person. They will try to resell you and may get pissed. Leaving the DEP is possible, but not that easy. Your DEP contract is 1 year with the prospective service. The Navy must DEP discharge you in order for you cross deck over to the Marines. Being in the DEP doesn&#39;t mean you are obligated by contract to ship.<br />Start by talking to the Marine recruiter.
