Is it possible to go from AD Navy to AD Army OCS?

Greetings everyone,
I have a couple quick questions, I need some guidance in my current path because no one in my command seems to understand what I'm trying to do. I am currently an E-4 in the Navy with 3 years left on my contract and I am enrolled in school. Due to graduate in December trying to go OCS in the army. I'm kind of rushing it because I don't want to get near the 6 year TIS cut-off because I have a plan of maybe joining the JAG Corps if I have the opportunity and can show myself worthy to go to law school through the army, but that's my secondary goal. My primary goal is getting into army ocs.

A couple months back I submitted a blue to green request to go enlisted AD navy to AD enlisted army but it was denied due to manning in my rate. Now my question(s) is with me trying to do OCS instead of enlisted will the same rules apply? Is it as clear cut as it seems that once I'm accepted into OCS my navy contract will be discontinued? I've always wanted to go army but when enlisting I did something dumb and wanted to go with the branch that would ship me the quickest and now regretting that decision. I just need some advice and guidance because I want to start building my OCS packet for the army but no one in the navy knows much about the army OCS process.

For as long as your rate is under strength, the Navy will not release you.

Anything is possible in the service! No matter what branch your in! Question is how bad do you want it? What price are you willing to pay for it? Marines can become rangers in the Army, and so on. But everyone that changes either gains or looses something, do your research. Take some time off from work and go see what they really do. Get approval from both commands for this. Maybe you will find out your going to be happier where your at, just saying. Good Luck and God Bless

First of all what is your GPA? You need to go talk to an Army recruiter, you may lot be qualified.
I recruited for the Army and there were bare minimum requirements to become an officer. However the competition was brutal and you had to exceed standards just to be competitive.

going E to O gets you past the critical rating issue. Then it becomes a question of officer recruiting quotas. If you're interested in becoming a JAG, you should be talking to Army JAG about getting a complete package that sends you to OCS then to law school. This way you don't have to apply for yet another program and worry about whether you can get into it.

You should also consider doing the same with Navy JAG and AF JAG. It's unlikely for the AF because they are very restrictive about other service vets. But, if you like the idea of being a lawyer in ground force type folks, you could also be a Marine JAG. So your best bet, once you have your BA/BS degree (and assuming you have a high GPA, great evals and recommendations, all your quals done and at least one warfare pin) is to put in packages to all the services. You might even consider Coast Guard. I believe that unlike chaplains and doctors, each service has their own JAGs, but don't hold me to that.

Don't get tunnel vision and lock yourself into just Army, because if you can get accepted to one of the other services, but don't get picked up by Army, you're still ahead of the game.
