You can't advance to your first unit if you can't show at least minimal skill in weapons, common tasks, military fitness, and a working basic knowledge of your MOS.

Once you get to your first duty station, it becomes a combined effort to continue the refinement and learning process. Your immediate NCO support channel is tasked with ensuring that you have the tools and guidance needed. But it's up to the Soldier to seek out ways to improve.

A soldier can be made to attend additional PRT, but they need to put out the effort to acrually use the extra training to improve fitness. Likewise, it's up the Soldier to limit the trips to Domino's, BK and the myriad of fast food establishments that litter the neighborhoods that surround every base I have ever been to. (10 at last count) .

There is nothing stopping a Soldier from volunteering to be involved in hip pocket training. Pick an area of Shoot, Move. Communicate, and Survive that is a weakness, learn a task, and offer to give a block of instruction. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 04 Sep 2019 03:06:24 -0400 2019-09-04T03:06:24-04:00 Response by SSG Brian G. made Sep 4 at 2019 4:56 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-it-possible-to-go-through-bct-a-second-time?n=4988793&urlhash=4988793

Nope. An SM goes through basic once. They cannot opt to repeat it. If they are deficient in an area ie weight, basic soldiering then their NCO corps/CoC deals with this as either enrolling into an overweight program or remedial training in the required areas of deficiency.

The only way an SM goes back through basic is by being out a prescribed number of years and having to repeat it or by swapping services. Why in the holy of all holies would you go back to basic training? You graduated and became a Soldier. So put on your big boy panties, do Physical Training on your own, open a freaking manual and get to it. Being in the Reserve is no excuse to lose your military bearing. When was the last time you attempted land navigation? When is the last time you hit the gym? These are things you must maintain on your own. If you need assistance from you FLL then ask them. (I'm telling you now, they will tell you to do a class next BA). Reach out to them and others in your company and do a class together next BA anyhow. It will make you stand out. I am willing to bet that at your unit, or maybe in a buddies unit there is so.e super high speed guy, maybe an NCO maybe a high speed lower enlisted, that would love to show you all about what you are missing.
